If you are in the mood for more leisurely activities, a variety of choices are at hand in Mountain Grove. History lives on through the Old Mill Tour, where you can tour some of the nation's finest surviving pioneer water mills. To early settlers, water was the primary source of power in the form of mills to grind grain, saw lumber and to perform other labor intensive tasks. Today, you can enjoy a tour of these pioneer mills which is an enjoyable afternoon's circuit drive, beginning and ending in Mountain Grove. Other area tours include the Southwest Missouri State University Fruit Experiment Station; also on the grounds of the fruit station is Faurot Hall, a national historic site. The home of author Laura Ingalls Wilder of "Little House on the Prairie" fame, and a local winery should also be included on your itinerary of area tours. Whatever your interests, you'll find that Mountain Grove offers nearly everything you may want or need for an enjoyable vacation. You'll find lots of reasons to come back. Visit MOUNTAIN GROVE, and "TAKE A CLOSER LOOK." |
