The nearby North Fork, Bryant, Eleven Point, Current, Gasconade and Jacks Fork Rivers offer the choice of floating lazily down their course or meeting the challenge of faster water. These same rivers also provide unique access to some of the most breathtaking scenery to be found in the Ozarks. A particularly scenic area is the Ozark National Scenic Riverway, a 134-mile section along the Current and Jacks Fork Rivers. Located along the Scenic Riverway are Alley Springs Mill, Round Spring Cave and Jam-Up Cave. Whether you bring along your own gear or rent it from local outfitters, you will certainly enjoy your canoe trip along any of these rivers. The Missouri Department of Conservation also operates more than ten public access sites on rivers in the Mountain Grove area. If fishing is your passion, many area streams are spring fed providing the opportunity for some thrilling fishing. Do trophy trout interest you? If so, you are in luck!! The North Fork River has been designated a trophy trout river by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Another necessary stopover for anglers is a local rainbow trout ranch--imagine a spring fed stream teaming with rainbow trout . |
